IOSH Western District Seminar on new Construction Regs 2013 on 12/11/2013


IOSH Ireland Western District committee are hosting a free seminar in the Greenhills Hotel, Ennis Road, Limerick on Tuesday the 12th of November from 7pm-9pm. The seminar will discuss the new Construction Regulations 2013.

Michael McDonagh an inspector with the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) with deliver the presentation over two sessions. Michael has been involved in construction inspections and accident investigations with the HSA for 8 years. For the past 2 years Michael has managed the Construction Policy Unit. The work of the unit includes legislation, codes of practice, guidance, technical queries, representing HSA on committees etc.

In the first session, Michael will outline the requirements of this new Regulation and how it differs from the 2006 Regulations.

In the second session, Michael will bring the attendees through the Construction Safety & Health Plan templates, contained within the Guide for Contractors & Project Supervisors issued by the HSA. These approved templates facilitate the description of the project and associated Particular Risks, and conclusions drawn by the PSDP taking account of principle of prevention.

It’s an ideal opportunity for both contractors taking on the role of PSCS and designers (architects & engineers) taking on the role of PSDP for the first, time to understand their duties as applied to Private Domestic Dwellings which were previously exempt for the Construction Regulations.
